Antique Sterling Silver Esrog Box, 13.1 Oz

This is a highly ornate antique silver-plated esrog (etrog) box, crafted in a victorian ornate style. The hexagonal form is richly decorated with raised scrollwork and motifs along the lid and sides. The hinged lid is topped with a finial in the form of a lion, a symbol of strength and Jewish heritage, particularly evocative of the "Lion of Judah."

The box rests on four scrolled feet adorned with floral embellishments. Inside, the silver-plated surface shows patina and oxidation consistent with age and use. The overall design and iconography suggest this was intended for ceremonial use during the Jewish festival of Sukkot to house the esrog (citron).
