DETAILS

This beautiful necklace with a unique design and combination of 18k yellow gold and platinum features a stationary pendant. The bail has 9 small prong set diamonds accenting the accent roman bezel set coin, Denarius of L. Memmius, Rome, - Moneyer of the Roman Republic from 109 BC to 108 BC. Estimated to be from the ancient Roman republican period, this coin depicts the face of a laureate head of a man (research has shown there is a strong belief the face is of Apollo). The back of the coin depicts The Dioscuri, from Greek & Roman Mythology, standing between their horses. The twins Castor & Pollux were the embodiment of brotherly love and considered protectors of all travelers and sailors. The back of the coin is further inscribed L.MEMMI. L. Memmius was one of the moneyers for the year 109-108 BC. He is known to have visited Egypt as a senator in 112 BC.
